Cold Start in Northeast Tuesday
Northeast 
- An extensive freeze is expected Tuesday morning, except for southern and eastern Virginia.
- Despite the chill, the day will be sunny and dry with high pressure in control.
- Gusty winds will linger from New England to the coastal Mid-Atlantic.
- Lows will range from the single digits and teens near the Canadian border to the 30s in Virginia.
- Highs will range from near 30 degrees in northern Maine to the 50s and 60s in the Virginias.
- High temperatures will be mostly near average.
- Showers and a few thunderstorms arrive Wednesday, mixing with snow from northern New York into Maine.
Midwest | 
- With a storm riding eastward near the Canadian border Tuesday, wind-driven rain and showers will extend from North Dakota into Michigan with some morning icing possible across the northern Great Lakes.
- A few thunderstorms will be ongoing or developing from eastern Kansas to Iowa and the southern Great Lakes region.
- Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible from southeast Kansas to Illinois.
- Windy conditions will engulf most of the region with especially strong gusts of 40 to 60 mph from the Dakotas into Minnesota.
- Lows will range from the 20s and 30s in Michigan and Ohio to the 50s and low 60s in Missouri and eastern Kansas.
- With temperatures from near average to 25 degrees above average, highs will range from the 40s and 50s in North Dakota and Michigan to the 70s and low 80s from the central Plains into western Kentucky.
- A little snow and rain will linger in the Upper Midwest Wednesday while scattered thunderstorms are ongoing or developing from the Ohio Valley to Kansas.
South 
- A few thunderstorms will pop from southwest Texas to central and eastern Oklahoma Tuesday.
- Dry weather though is on tap for most all of the region and sunny skies will extend from the lower Mississippi Valley to the Carolinas.
- Breezy conditions will linger near the Southeast Coast and across the southern Plains.
- Morning frost is possible in interior northern North Carolina.
- Lows will range from the 30s and 40s in North Carolina to the 50s and 60s in the southern Plains and low 70s along the Keys.
- With temperatures from slightly below average in northeast North Carolina to 20 degrees above average in the Texas Panhandle, highs will be mainly in the 70s and 80s except 50s and 60s in North Carolina and northeast South Carolina.
- A few thunderstorms will pop from western North Carolina to Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle Wednesday. Also a few thunderstorms could lurk in the Rio Grande Valley and southeast Louisiana. Most of the region will again push into the 80s.
West 
- Rain will exit eastern Montana Tuesday.
- Meanwhile, more rain and mountain snow will target Washington, Oregon and the northern half of California with the next incoming storm.
- Pacific Northwest snow levels will be between 3000 and 4000 feet.
- Heavy rain up to 4 inches and feet of mountain snow are expected in northwest California.
- Windy conditions will linger in eastern Montana and eastern Wyoming and rev up across the northern half of California, Nevada, Oregon and the Washington coast.
- Lows will range from the teens and 20s in the mountains to the 40s and 50s in the deserts.
- With temperatures near average or below average along the West Coast but still above average from the Rockies eastward, highs will range from between the 40s and 65 degrees in the Northwest to the 80s over the interior Southwest near the Mexico border.
- Rain and mountain snow continues from northern and central California, Oregon and Washington to the northern Rockies Wednesday.
